VIEW NEIGHBORHOOD NEWSPAPERS SEEKS FEEDBACK ABOUT COMMUNITY COVERAGE

Participants are needed for a focus group to help View Neighborhood Newspapers improve its coverage of the Centennial Hills area.

The event is set for 6-8 p.m. April 18 at the Centennial Hills Community Center YMCA, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive.

Input will be aimed at helping View best serve the readers of its seven neighborhood-specific sections, including Centennial. Light refreshments are planned.

SKI RESORT TO CLOSE FOR SEASON

Sunday is the tentative closing day at Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort, 6725 Lee Canyon Road on Mount Charleston.

STORY TIME SET for parents and babies

A monthlong song and story time for parents and babies is planned for 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the Centennial Hills Community Center YMCA, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive.

The program is set for each Saturday in April, and the fee is $50.

EVENTS PLANNED AT ACTIVE ADULT CENTER

Coffee and current events are the draw for two planned events April 11 at the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive.

A representative from Starbucks is to host a coffee tasting of varieties from around the world at 10 a.m. April 11. The representative also will discuss how the geographic origin contributes to flavor.

The fee is $2.

Also, the Current Events Discussion Group is to gather at 12:30 p.m. April 11. The self-led group is to cover topics making headlines. The event is free for center members.

SPRING BREAK DEALS
OFFERED AT SKI RESORT

Ski and snowboard deals await teachers, school staff members and kids on spring break through Friday at the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort, 6725 Lee Canyon Road on Mount Charleston.

Children 12 or under are to ski or snowboard free. A parent or adult chaperone must be present to redeem the deal.

Teachers and Clark County School District employees with a valid work ID are offered a two-for-one lift ticket special.

Midweek, full-day lift tickets are $50 for adults and $35 for ages 13-18. Kids can rent skis or a snowboard for $20, and beginners can get a one-hour lesson for $20.

NEW DIALYSIS Clinic OPENS

Fresenius Medical Care West Sahara, has opened at 7710 W. Sahara Ave., Suite 120. The dialysis clinic will serve the area’s growing population of patients with chronic kidney disease.

There are 13 treatment stations designed for patient comfort and convenience that feature individual media systems and wireless Internet access for patients who bring their own computers.

The clinic is accepting new patients.

Local Historian set to speak
on impact of ‘Pawn Stars’

Mark Hall-Patton, administrator for the Clark County Museums and a consultant for the television program “Pawn Stars,” is set to speak on the impact of “Pawn Stars” and the history of the Clark County Museum from
11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. April 10 at the Cora Coleman Senior Center, 2100 Bonnie Lane. Admission is free.

Wetlands Park to celebrate birds

The Clark County Wetlands Park, Southern Nevada Water Authority, Nevada Department of Wildlife, Southern Nevada Agency Partnership and the Red Rock Audubon Society are set to celebrate International Migratory Bird Day from 8:30 a.m. to noon April 14 at the Clark County Wetlands Park, 7050 Wetlands Park Lane.

Planned events include storytelling, making environmentally sound bird feeders, experimenting with owl pellets and the Explore! Mobile Exhibit.

The event is free, but space is limited.
