ITEMS BEING COLLECTED
FOR EASTER BASKETS

The Centennial Hills Active Adult Center is collecting various items to make Easter baskets to deliver to area oncology patients.

Items needed for adults and children include Easter baskets, bags, buckets, crossword puzzles, note pads, ChapStick, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hard candy; magazines, mints, Tic Tacs, lemon drops, pens, blankets, crayons, markers, coloring books, small stuffed animals, children’s reading books, toys, hair accessories, little cars and bubbles.

Items can be dropped off through March 15 at the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive. For more information, call 702-229-1702.

WARD 6 BOARD MEMBER SOUGHT
FOR NEIGHBORHOOD PARTNERS FUND

The city of Las Vegas’ Neighborhood Partners Fund board is seeking a volunteer representative to serve for Ward 6.

The board’s 13 members are appointed by Las Vegas City Council members. The board is being reconvened to review applications and recommend funding for fiscal year 2013-14 projects.

The Neighborhood Partners Fund provides matching funds for neighborhood improvement projects. The program grants up to $5,000 to registered neighborhood associations for projects aimed at improving the physical, public safety, cultural, recreational or educational aspects of neighborhoods.

STAR PARTY PLANNED AT SPRING MOUNTAIN RANCH STATE PARK

The program Astronomy in the Park is set for 7 p.m. March 16 at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park. Meet in the Group Use area. Highlights will be Jupiter, the Great Orion Nebula and the Andromeda Galaxy, along with other wonders of the night sky.

The event is free and open to the public. The park entrance fee is $7 for most vehicles.

The park is 15 miles west of Las Vegas, via state Route 159 (West Charleston Boulevard), in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

COMING APRIL 13

The third annual Summerlin Half Marathon is planned for 7 a.m. April 13 at the JW Marriott, 221 N. Rampart Blvd.

The 13.1-mile course is set to meander through seven Summerlin villages on the community’s trail system.
