VENDORS AND VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT
FOR COWBOY CHRISTMAS

Vendors and volunteers are needed for Ward 6 Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross' annual Cowboy Christmas and Car Show.

This event is planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 3 at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, 9200 Tule Springs Road.

Volunteers are needed to help with parking, setup and tear down of the event, cleanup, games, craft tables and more.

Arts and crafts or food vendors also are requested. There is a $25 charge for vendors, and participants need to bring their own table and chairs. No business license is required.

Patty's Closet Fashion Boutique's fifth Las Vegas store has found a home in Centennial Hills.

The store, 7010 N. Durango Drive, Suite 120, carries six of each style of women's wear in sizes small, medium and large. No two stores carry the same inventory.

COUNCILMAN ROSS TO ATTEND
CENTENNIAL POINT HOA MEETING

The Centennial Point Homeowners Association plans to host Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross, Ward 6, during a question and comment session planned for 6 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Centennial Hills Community Center YMCA, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive.

STAR PARTY COMING TO RED ROCK canyon group use area SATURDAY

An Astronomy in the Park Star Party is planned for 6 p.m. Saturday at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area's Group Use area.

The moon and Jupiter will be viewed just after sunset, followed by deep-sky viewing -- galaxies, nebulae and star clusters. A laser-guided What's Up Tonight tour of the sky is set for 7:30 p.m.

The free event is sponsored by the Las Vegas Astronomical Society. Parking and access to video-assisted viewing of the night sky is available for those in wheelchairs.

BUDDHIST PSYCHOTHERAPY INSTITUTE OPENS on south durango drive

The Buddhist Psychotherapy Institute of Las Vegas has opened at 810 S. Durango Drive, Suite 102.

CITY LICENSING OFFICE TO RELOCATE
TO RANCHO DRIVE

The city of Las Vegas licensing office is set to relocate beginning at noon Monday to the Development Services Center building at 333 N. Rancho Drive.

The last day of business in the office's location at Las Vegas City Hall, 400 Stewart Ave., will be Thursday.

The office is set to open for business at its new location at midday.

Operating hours in the Development Services Center building are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, with first-floor counters open at 7:30 a.m. Wednesdays.

GRACE IN THE DESERT CHURCH
PLANS CRAFT SALE Saturday

Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church, 2004 Spring Gate Lane, plans to host a holiday bazaar and craft sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Booths will have crafts, Tupperware, Longaberger baskets, baked goods and items from Pampered Chef, Scentsy, Avon and Mary Kay. Face painting, food, games and more also are planned.

Free entertainment will be offered throughout the day. All proceeds go to the church's patio-building fund and sponsored outreach charities.

Girl Scouts plan weeklong auction

The Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada, 2941 Harris Ave., are set to host a weeklong auction from midnight Nov. 18 to 11:59 p.m. Nov. 25 benefiting leadership program opportunities for girls.

The auction includes items such as tickets to Blue Man Group shows and Las Vegas Wranglers hockey games, a stay at Primm Valley Casino Resorts, a helicopter fly with the Metropolitan Police Department and more.

HEALTH DISTRICT ANNOUNCES HEALTHy HOLIDAY CHALLENGE

The Southern Nevada Health District announces its Get Healthy Holiday Challenge, a web-based program offering a weekly challenge and tools to track progress through the holidays.

Each week a healthy challenge email will be distributed to encourage lifestyle changes, such as a daily 15-minute walk or eating three servings of vegetables a day.

The program also will provide weekly tips, recipes, an interactive blog, prizes and more. The site also includes information and resources for a healthier lifestyle.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY SEEKS BOX TRUCK

Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas is in need of a box truck. The one it used to pick up appliances, furniture and building materials is no longer repairable.

MEETING TO DISCUSS LONG-TERM DEVELOPMENT FOR GRAND CANYON DAM

The public is invited to attend a meeting on a long-term development plan regarding the timing and water volume flows of the Grand Canyon Dam.

The meeting is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Ramada Las Vegas, 325 E. Flamingo Road.

Those who attend can learn about and comment on the Long-Term Experimental and Management Plan, designed to improve and protect resources of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Grand Canyon National Park and the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

MILITARY BRIDES CAN GET FREE GOWNS

Couture Bride plans to honor military brides with free designer wedding gowns beginning at 8 a.m. Nov. 11 at its showroom, 950 S. Durango Drive.

Gowns will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Brides are encouraged to come early to secure their place in line, as there is a limited supply.

To qualify, brides or their fiances must be on active duty in the military, either currently deployed or deployed within the last five years, to Iraq, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Libya or Japan. Identification and deployment papers must be presented at the event to qualify.
