Chapman, employee support First Tee
Mathew Wangrycht has a passion for his job as a parts adviser at Chapman Chrysler Jeep in the Valley Automall in Henderson, just as he has a passion for playing his favorite sport, golf.
This summer, Wangrycht will marry his two passions when he takes on the Death Valley Challenge to raise money for The First Tee of Southern Nevada, a charity enabling children to play golf while learning life skills. Chapman Chrysler Jeep is supporting him as he plans to play one entire day of golf in Death Valley on July 28, which averages temperatures around 120 degrees Fahrenheit. All proceeds from this event will benefit The First Tee.
The First Tee is a worldwide charity with a local chapter. The First Tee aims to impact young people’s lives by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf. The program also teaches kids a Life Skills Experience class that instills The First Tee Nine Core Values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment.
“Golf is passion of mine and has been for some time now. I was looking for ways to get my 6-year-old daughter, Emma, involved in the game and found that The First Tee fit the bill,” Wangrycht said. “After doing some research on the organization, I was blown away with what the charity has done and continues doing for the kids in our community. When we came up with the idea of the Death Valley Challenge, the owners and management of this Chapman family-owned dealership urged me to go for it.”
