Coalition of the bribed falling apart

Here’s an interesting story from the Associated Press which indicates that Democratic U.S. senators in the coalition of the bribed who passed health care "reform" via what some say is unconstitutional incentives may be falling apart.

Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln is telling the Little Rock Kiwanis Club that "the people of Arkansas didn’t send me to Washington to be a horse trader" and the sweetheart deal for Nebraska "should" come out of the bill. She stopped short, however, of saying she would vote against the bill if it came before her with the Nebraska deal in it.

To get Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., to vote for the "reform", Sen. Harry Reid wrote the bill so that Nebraska was forever exempted from Medicaid increases. That, of course, means that every other state (including Reid’s home state of Nevada) will have to foot the bill for the "Cornhusker Kickback".

All of this is very interesting stuff as Sen. Reid, Rep. Nancy Pelosi and President Barack Obama cut Republicans out of the process and try to get a deal on only with fellow Democrats. They need folks like Sen. Lincoln to stay quiet and not rock the boat.

Even more interesting is the news that attorneys general in 13 states have threatened a lawsuit if congressional leaders don’t remove the Nebraska deal from the legislation. Twelve are Republican attorneys general, one is a Democrat. Seems to me if an attorney general is doing his or her job regardless of politics the Nebraska deal would raise an eyebrow or two in every state, regardless of party.

So, how about it, Nevada AG Catherine Cortez Masto? You willing to rise above politics and fight for Nevada? Seems to me you should. If Congress proceeds in making this the law of the land, a challenge on behalf of all Nevadans is in order. If our U.S. Senator won’t protect us, then I hope our AG will. This Nebraska deal stinks.
