Couple buys Discovery home in Mountain’s Edge community

Barbara and Bill Scannell know homes. With five children and more than a dozen grandchildren, the couple has purchased 14 homes throughout their 53-year marriage, in the United States and abroad. Most recently, they moved into Cascade in Mountain's Edge. The couple anticipates moving into their new home right around the time of their 54th wedding anniversary.

"We moved to Las Vegas about three years ago and divide our time between here and Palm Springs," said Barbara Scannell. "We had been looking for the right home for some time and decided to check out Mountain's Edge. "We went to the Visitor's Center at Mountain's Edge to find all of the neighborhoods with single-story homes, since running up and down stairs is no longer fun for us."

Scannell said she checked out all of the single-story homes available in Mountain's Edge and found Discovery Homes had the best floor plan at the best price.

The Scannells purchased Discovery Homes' Luciana plan in its Cascade collection. The Luciana is a 2,624-square-foot home with three bedrooms, two baths, vaulted ceilings, granite kitchen countertops, a formal dining room, great room and a three-car garage.

"I really like the floor plan. It suits our lives well," Scannell said. "It is very open with the vaulted ceilings and I like that the kitchen is open to the living room. The kitchen is a primary area of the home and where we spend a lot of time. So I like that this home's kitchen is central in the home and is in the middle of things."

Extra space was also available with this home site and the Scannells plan to build a pool in their new backyard."

Discovery Homes offers its Breckenridge and Cascade collections in Mountain's Edge. Both are housed in the master plan's only guard-gated community. Six unique designs in the collections allow homebuyers to choose their space.
