Couple discovers new Hyundai travels well

Las Vegas residents Charles and Terri Spohn took a family member’s word before buying a Hyundai in 2008.

Now, after experiencing the preowned 2006 Hyundai Elantra they purchased, the Spohns now own a 2013 Elantra from Planet Hyundai Centennial in the northwest valley.

“Our grandson Justin Boily told us that the Hyundai was the best car on the market, and that said a lot because he was a technician for Planet Hyundai Sahara at the time,” Charles Spohn said. “We really liked the 2006 Elantra and took it on a trip to our family reunion in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

“The ’06 ran like a top on our trip and got good fuel mileage,” he added. “We never had any problems with the vehicle, so there was no question that we’d get another Hyundai the next time we needed a new car.”

Charles Spohn bought Fords before getting the Hyundai.

“The Hyundai made me into a believer,” he said. “I have never looked back since.”

Terri Spohn agreed that the ’06 was awesome, but said it was time for an upgrade.

The Spohns took the same 3,100-mile trip in their new Elantra and said they were even happier.

“We got 43.35 miles to the gallon on this trip,” said Terri Spohn, adding that the journey was taken in July and August during some trying weather conditions that included heavy rain and wind. “This time, the car was bigger so it was a lot quieter. I forgot my cellphone charger with me, so it was good to know that I could charge the phone with the USB jack in the car. With satellite radio, we didn’t have to search for good music, either.”

The Spohns shared driving on the trip, which included visiting Charles Spohn’s 100-year-old aunt, Jessie Moore, who lives outside of Little Rock, Ark.

“I felt very comfortable driving on some of the roads that we took,” said Terri Spohn, whose mother in Arizona has an Elantra. “The car handled the curves and the weather just fine. It took the hills very well especially considering that the four-cylinder engine had very good power.”

The Spohns said the Planet dealerships treated them well during both automobile purchases. The couple praised their latest sales consultant, Dave Spence.

Each Hyundai comes with a 10-year, 100,000-mile engine warranty along with a five-year, 60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Planet Hyundai Centennial is part of a group of locally owned and operated dealerships that includes Planet Hyundai Sahara, 7150 W. Sahara Ave., and the Planet Hyundai Used Car Super Store, 7100 W. Sahara Ave.
