Couple selects Pardee home at Arrowhead

Teachers Peter and Jenny Brown are no longer worried about the rising cost of commuting to work. The reason: It's only a nine-minute walk to work at Las Vegas High School from their new Arrowhead home in Sunrise Highlands, a Pardee Homes master-planned community.

Married less than a year, the Browns said they felt they'd "hit the jackpot" when they found their new home so close to their place of work and their family.

"We moved from a one-bedroom apartment to a two-story home on a large corner lot with a yard big enough for us to install a putting course," said Peter Brown, who teaches government and video editing. "Our kitchen is so large that this is where the family gathers now."

Jenny, a physical education teacher, also loves the backyard and her garden, in addition to the garage where all her workout equipment is set up.

"It's a great house for everything we love to do," she said.

Pardee offers three neighborhoods and 11 model homes in Sunrise Highlands on the eastern edge of the Las Vegas Valley at the base of Sunrise Mountain, according to regional sales director Rob Tuvell.

"With homes priced from the mid-$200,000s, Sunrise Highlands represents a great value," he said. "In one convenient location home buyers can find a good selection of one- and two-story homes ranging from 1,340 to 3,369 square feet, including from three to seven bedrooms, two to four baths and two- and three-car garages."

Located near the intersection of South Hollywood Boulevard and Vegas Valley Drive, Sunrise Highlands rises above the valley, giving a panoramic view of the city below and Sunrise Mountain to the east, according to Tuvell.

Arrowhead offers four flexible one- and two-story floor plans with up to four bedrooms and 21/2 baths, optional lofts and dens in 1,340 to 2,070 square feet, priced from the mid-$200,000s.

The Sierra neighborhood features four one- and two-story floor plans with up to four bedrooms and three baths in 1,431 to 2,439 square feet. Options include lofts, dens, retreats and bonus rooms. Sierra is priced from the high $200,000s.

The Crestline neighborhood offers one- and two-story homes with up to seven bedrooms and four baths in 1,979 to 3,369 square feet. Floor plans options include great rooms, bonus and super bonus rooms, game rooms and dens. Crestline is priced from the mid-$300,000s.

While it enjoys a quiet location, Sunrise Highlands is close to many community amenities, including the new Hollywood Regional Park at Sahara Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard. The neighborhoods are also close to Lake Mead Recreational Area, in addition to established shopping, dining and entertainment venues.

To reach Sunrise Highlands from U.S. Highway 95, exit at Charleston Boulevard and head east to Hollywood Boulevard. Turn right on Hollywood and then left on Sunrise Highlands Way to the Arrowhead and Sierra models, and left on Sahara for Crestline models. The sales centers and model homes are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, except Monday when they open at 11 a.m. For more information, visit pardeehomes.com.

One of the West's largest home builders, Pardee has built residences for more than 35,000 families in Southern Nevada since 1952.
