Democrats apologize for listing Hosea as Democrat

Oops. Wrong party.

The Clark County Democratic Party posted a notice on its Web site apologizing for listing Gary Hosea as a Democrat. Hosea, who was running in Ward 4 for the Las Vegas City Council, is in fact a Republican.

"We apologize for any confusion this error created among the voters in Ward 4," the notice states. Municipal races are nonpartisan, but both parties claim their candidates — the Clark County Republican site, for example, has links to campaign sites for Glenn Trowbridge and Stavros Anthony, the two Ward 4 candidates who survived the primary and will meet June 2.

Hosea wondered if the posting cost him votes. People saw him posted on the Democratic site and "thought maybe I had lost my marbles," he said Tuesday.

He finished last in the April 7 primary with 96 votes, or less than 2 percent. He did better last fall as the GOP challenger to Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins, winning 27 percent of the vote.
