Dining Pick of the Week: China One

PICK OF THE WEEK:

CHINA ONE

921 S. Rainbow Blvd. at West Charleston Boulevard, 702-822-2228

We’re familiar with chow mein and chow fun, but there is much more to discover within Chinese cuisine, and China One has many of them. Several specialties are the hot and spicy Kung Pao Combo with chicken, beef, shrimp, zucchini, celery and carrots; salt and pepper shrimp; and black pepper chicken, where white meat is stir-fried with mushrooms, bell peppers and onions in black pepper sauce. Other entrees are orange chicken, cashew shrimp, shrimp in hot garlic sauce, mu shu chicken, Mongolian beef, sweet and sour pork, Hunan beef, sesame beef, chicken in black bean sauce, shrimp with broccoli, and ginger and onion pork. There is chop suey, egg foo yong, teriyaki bowls, soup (corn egg drop, hot and sour seafood) and vegetable dishes such as fried tofu with vegetables or sautéed vegetable plate with broccoli, zucchini, carrots, napa cabbage, baby corn and water chestnuts stir-fried in light garlic sauce. Begin with vegetable egg rolls, crab Rangoon, butterfly shrimp or barbecue sliced pork. Lunch specials, served with fried or steamed rice and soup, start at $5.95 and are served daily until 4 p.m. Specialties begin at $8.95. China One is open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. — Jack Bulavsky
