Dining Pick of the Week: Rendezvous Cafe

PICK OF THE WEEK:

RENDEZVOUS CAFE

2341 N. Rainbow Blvd. at West Smoke Ranch Road, 702-638-2433

At night, Arlene Thelin is The Invisible Chef. During the day, she is the very visible chef and manager for this friendly breakfast and lunch restaurant that pays attention to its food and service. Breakfast includes traditional eggs Benedict, where an English muffin is topped with ham, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. There is also chicken fried steak and gravy with hash browns or home fries, biscuits and sausage with gravy, French toast, Belgium waffles, omelets made to order and build-your-own breakfast, where you select four items such as pancakes, eggs, sausage links, bacon, ham, kielbasa, French toast, yogurt, fruit and oatmeal. Among the sandwiches are Pita Pizza topped with garlic sauce, Italian chicken with Provolone and roasted red peppers on ciabatta, chicken enchiladas, lasagna, Philly cheesesteak, build-your-own hamburger, tuna, chicken or egg salad, teriyaki chicken with pineapple and Swiss on a toasted bun and gyro, where seasoned beef and lamb is placed on a warm pita with tomatoes, onions, tzatziki sauce and diced cucumbers. There are wings, salads (wedge, garden) and soup. Ask about daily quiche and frittata specials and fresh desserts. Breakfast begins at $3, and sandwiches start at $6. Rendezvous Cafe is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Jack Bulavsky
