Driver sentenced for leaving special needs students on bus

A school bus driver who left two special needs students alone in the bus for 45 minutes in the summer has been sentenced.

Kimberly Moumblow, 47, received three years of probation for the incident, Associated Press reports. She must also undergo a mental health evaluation.

Moumblow, of Highland Lakes, New Jersey, pleaded guilty in November to cruelty and child neglect charges.

Authorities said Moumblow left the two, ages 7 and 9, on the bus in July 2013. Air conditioning in the bus was not running and the windows were closed. The children were found in distress and overheated, police said.
