School field trips don’t typically end in drunken teacher brawls, but that’s exactly what Stanley Park High School students of south London said they saw the night of their school sports tour of Barcelona, Spain.
According to The Telegraph, chaperoning teachers are under investigation after a drunken night out reportedly turned into a full-blown fight that frightened students and “left one member of staff with a black eye.”
Seventy-five boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 15 were in attendance during a half-term break tour of the Spanish city. The tour included visits to Nou Camp, Barcelona FC’s home stadium and Aventura water park.
The night before the group was supposed to return home, members of the staff reportedly went out for drinks and at least one punch was thrown.
“If the pupils managed to behave themselves for a week then the teachers should be able to restrain themselves,” a parent said. “They should not be going out and getting drunk when they have 75 children in their care.”
