El Cortez Hotel kicks off holiday weekend with classic-car show, live entertainment

The El Cortez is celebrating Independence Day with a classic car show and live bands in front of the hotel on Jackie Gaughan Parkway, Sunday from 1-6 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public and will showcase approximately 60 American-made classic cars, courtesy of Ultracar LTD Inc. Five of the vehicles will be open to guests for photo opportunities, both inside and outside the cars. Also available will be a 1963 pink Cadillac featuring an Elvis impersonator behind the wheel for photo opportunities.

Live music will be provided by the Ryan Whyte Maloney Band, an inspiring local country band, and the Freddie Eckstein Group, which provides a unique jazz experience.

A cash bar will serve both alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks.

Engine 1 Pizza will be on location throughout the day with a menu selection for purchase of custom pizzas, artisan pizzas, breaded mozzarella sticks, breaded zucchini sticks, seasoned sweet potato fries, breaded mushrooms and boneless Buffalo wings.

Celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, the El Cortez can be found in historic downtown Las Vegas at 600 E. Fremont St.
