ENTERTAINMENT: ‘Mad Men’ sing too

Don Draper (Jon Hamm) isn’t promised. For that matter, neither are the other five leads. But anything can happen on “A Night on the Town with ‘Mad Men,’ ” a musical fundraiser featuring the hit TV drama’s supporting cast, slated for the Hollywood Theatre at the MGM Grand on Jan. 27 while the NATPE (National Association of Television Program Executives) conference is in town.
The event has grown from the “Mad Men Revue” first staged in Los Angeles last year by five cast members of the AMC hit showing off their chops with jazz and early pop standards.
Interest has built since then, with lots more actors onboard to support the originators, which include Colin Hanks (son of Tom) and Robert Morse (pictured), who was the original Broadway star of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”
Those two are promised for the Las Vegas date, along with Bryan Batt, Michael Gladis, Rich Sommer, Mark Moses, Maggie Siff, Alison Brie, Patrick Fischler, Melinda McGraw, Crista Flanagan, Julie McNiven, Donielle Artese, Audrey Wasilewski and Joel Murray as emcee. The TV show’s musical director, David Carbonara, oversees the live band.
The show benefits the NATPE Educational Foundation. Tickets are supposedly available through www.natpe.org but so far the Website only seems to carry the announcement and doesn’t yet have a link for orders. We’ll update when more specifics come through.
Just one more question: Wonder if they will lift the smoking ban for one night?
