Festivals across the valley fill Christmas lists while helping nonprofits

Ready to shop?

The Las Vegas Review-Journal presents its annual list of craft bazaars, festivals and events for those interested in starting their holiday shopping while supporting nonprofit organizations.

Although a few organizations have already had their craft bazaars, there is still plenty of shopping to be had this fall season. November is once again a popular month with more than 20 groups presenting holiday shopping opportunities.

Celebrating a milestone this October is Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church’s annual Harvest Festival. Saturday’s event marks the 30th anniversary of the festival, with all proceeds going to benefit Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic School.

The festival will feature handmade items including ornaments, jewelry, blankets, knitted hats and scarves, Halloween items and baked goods. Family activities will include carnival games and prizes, a trackless train, rock climbing wall, jump houses and inflatables, and live entertainment. Food booths will include Filipino, Mexican, Italian, Polish and American cuisines. There will also be a grand prize drawing and a children’s raffle for prizes.

Jamie Sullivan, co-president of the PTO board, says planning for the event is year-round. Last year’s festival attendance was estimated at 4,000.

Admission is free. Shuttle service will be available at Wasden Elementary School at 2831 Palomino Lane and Campbell Drive.
