Findlay Chevrolet support boosts Las Vegas Running Team

The resurgence of the Las Vegas Running Team continued its rapid climb recently at Findlay Chevrolet with a 5K race that started and ended at the dealership at 6800 S. Torrey Pines Drive.

Race organizer Adam Chan hailed the event and the continued support from Findlay Chevrolet during the run that attracted about 300 runners of all ages. The Nevada Pep Run Walk and Roll kicked off a series of races that will be conducted throughout the year.

Chan said several employees of Findlay Chevrolet participated in the most recent run and several of those employees have challenged other dealerships to encourage their employees to compete in the future.

“We are planning a total of four to six events a year that will be started and finished at Findlay Chevrolet,” said the 43-year-old Chan, a native of Savannah, Ga., who has lived in Las Vegas for 30 years.

Chan said the next event run with Findlay Chevrolet is tentatively scheduled for later this year probably near the Christmas holidays. Among the other top events will be the Findlay Classic 5K run in April.

Chan competed in cross country events while he was a student at Eldorado High School in the 1980s. Interestingly, he competed against Justin Findlay, now a Findlay Automotive Group executive.

“There is no age restriction when it comes to running in events,” Chan said. ‘It doesn’t matter what your sex, nationality or size. It’s just you and the road. I have seen people as old as 90 compete in a race.”

Chan said the location of Findlay Chevrolet is perfect for running events.

“As it is now, we compete on a small course that winds its way around the dealership,” he said. “It’s flat and fast and easy to set up. In addition, roads are opening in the area all the time, so we can always expand the race course.’

In addition, Findlay Chevrolet has a huge community room for prerace planning along with a long list of amenities.

Chan purchased his first Volkswagen from Findlay Chevrolet General Manager Jamaal McCoy when McCoy was a sales agent at Findlay Volkswagen several years ago.

Chan said Findlay Automotive Group’s involvement in community events is unmatched.

“They are everywhere,” he said of the locally owned company. “Since my days growing up in Las Vegas, I remember Findlay being everywhere from athletic events to special programs created to raise funds for charity.”

Findlay Chevrolet is part of Findlay Automotive Group that was founded more than 50 years ago by the late Pete Findlay, whose son, Cliff, now spearheads automobile dealerships in Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Idaho and Oregon.
