GRAND OPENING PLANNED FOR GALLERIA DRIVE EXPANSION

Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen and Councilwoman Gerri Schroder plan to officially open the final stretch of roadway along Galleria Drive from Boulder Highway to Lake Las Vegas with a ceremony at 10 a.m. Oct. 16 at the intersection of Galleria Drive and Dave Wood Circle.

The $12.9 million project was built through a public-private partnership with the city, developers and the Regional Transportation Commission. Lake Las Vegas provided $5.5 million in local

improvement district funding and dedicated right-of-way. The LandWell Company provided $1.1 million in funding and dedicated right-of-way. The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada provided $3.7 million, including $1 million in fuel revenue index funds.

Galleria Drive construction passed through the Clark County Wetlands Park, which required coordination with lead agencies, including the Southern Nevada Water Authority, Clark County and the U. S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation.

The city of Henderson plans general election early voting from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 23 and 24 at the Heritage Park Senior Facility, 300 S. Racetrack Road; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway; and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Henderson City Hall, 240 Water St.

GARDENING PROGRAM TO ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FOR BARE FRUIT TREES

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners program is set to accept orders for bare-root fruit trees until Nov. 1.

The trees come without soil or leaves and are scheduled to be available for pick-up at the Demonstration Orchard, 4600 Horse Drive, in late January or early February.

RESIDENTS APPEAR ON “SHARK TANK” COMMERCIAL WITH BARBARA CORCORAN

Las Vegas residents Rick and Teri Brenkus, owners of Keller Williams Realty the Markplace, were featured in a commercial shown during the season premier of ABC’s “Shark Tank” Sept. 26.

The couple is endorsed by “shark” Barbara Corcoran, a resident real estate mogul and multi-millionaire. The commercial is set to air in additional episodes throughout the season.
