RESIDENTS CLEAN UP NEIGHBORHOOD
Residents of the Sunrise Trailer Estates recently held a three-day cleanup program.
The residents partnered with the city of Henderson’s neighborhood services division. Ten trash bins were placed in the neighborhood for residents to dispose of unwanted trash, bulky waste and yard debris. At the end of the three days, more than 58,000 pounds of trash were collected.
Two other neighborhoods were selected to participate in a similar cleanup program in June. For more information, call the neighborhood services division at 267-2000.
ARTISTS invited to submit hubcap art
for SUPERRUN Classic Car Show
Henderson is seeking artists to participate in the Hubcap Art Gallery at the SuperRun Classic Car Show, which is scheduled from Sept. 21-23 at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 S. Water St.
Artists are invited to transform hubcaps into masterpieces using mediums such as acrylic paints, photography, oil paints, fabric and welding. Hubcaps are expected to be displayed during SuperRun.
Any donated hubcaps are expected to be sold at a silent auction to benefit City Lights Youth Scholarship Fund.
Cost is $5 per hubcap. The deadline to enter is Aug. 15.

Las Vegas Councilman Beers
to speak at women’s luncheon
Las Vegas City Councilman Bob Beers is scheduled to be the guest speaker at the Southern Hills Republican Women’s luncheon today at Buckman’s, 2600 Hampton Road in Sun City Anthem. Doors open 10:45 a.m., and lunch is scheduled to be served at 11:30 a.m. Walk-ins are charge $25.
Beers is a former newscaster, certified public accountant, state legislator and state senator.
During the luncheon, donations may be made to the military through a basket drawing. Guests also can buy Republican jewelry.
SEMINAR to discuss DIGESTIVE PROBLEMS
The Foundation for Wellness Professional is scheduled to host a seminar on digestive problems at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Greens & Proteins, 8975 S. Eastern Ave. People can learn about natural solutions to digestive issues.

The Henderson Police Department, in partnership with 7-Eleven, is looking out for youths doing good deeds as part of “Operation Chill.” Officers plan to hand out coupons for 12-ounce Slurpees when they see youngsters doing something helpful, participating in a community activity or deterring crime.

of summer reading program
The Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway, plans to host Night at the Library from 8 to 10:30 p.m. July 16. The event is open to 8- to 11-year-olds who are participating in the summer reading program and have logged at least five hours. basketball camp july 16-20
