Immunization and Health director gets national recognition

The Centers for Disease Control and the CDC Foundation recognized Pam Beal, executive directorof the Southern Nevada Immunization and Health Coalition, as a Childhood Immunization Champion for 2012.
Beal is one of 39 recipients across the country, according to a statement from the Southern Nevada Immunization and Health Coalition. The statement said Beal was recognized for her contribution toward improving public health, leading and managing community health projects for the uninsured and underinsured.
Beal has directed multiple initiatives that increased immunization rates, including promoting the Vaccines for Children program to providers and parents; organizing and hosting several immunization events during Nevada Infant Immunization Week; convening a state and national Cocooning Summit to raise awareness about pertussis vaccinations among hospitals, obstetricians, and other health care professionals; and creating a partnership with the Clark County School District to immunize children with the Tdap, or pertussis, vaccine.
The CDC and the CDC Foundation announced the awards in conjunction with National (and Nevada) Infant Immunization Week, April 21-28.
