The public is invited to enjoy free ice cream and fun for the whole family, friends and well-behaved, leashed pets at the annual Sunny 106.5 Ice Cream Sunday at the Providence master-planned community on Sept. 28. Coincidentally the day also is National Good Neighbor Day, a celebration of community kindness and togetherness.
“Providence’s spirit is rooted in the traditions of small town America where neighborhoods bring people together, so hosting Ice Cream Sunday on Good Neighbor Day is a perfect way for neighbors and friends to spend the day, “said Jenna Bell, lifestyle director of the Providence Master Homeowners Association. “What better way to celebrate than with ice cream?”
The event is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Promenade Park inside Providence in northwest Las Vegas. The park is at 7195 Egan Crest Way, just north of the I-215 North Beltway and Hualapai Way. Look for the large green balloon.
Complimentary ice cream sandwiches and other frozen treats will be provided by Meadow Gold. Festivities include ice cream-eating contests and prizes, petting zoo, balloon animals, entertainment provided by Amazing Clowns, and more. A variety of businesses will have booths and exhibits, including Pacific Dental, Resort Stay International, Team Ford, T-Mobile and Winder Farms.
Attendees are invited to bring new or gently used books for Spread the Word Nevada. The nonprofit organization promotes literacy to make it possible for all children in Nevada to experience the magic of books. Visit www.spreadthewordnevada.org to learn more.
Children’s literacy is a community initiative of the Providence Master Homeowners Association and its residents, and Spread the Word Nevada has become a favorite community partner. As a result, book collection is held throughout the year at the master plan.
Now in its 13th year and fifth at Providence, the Sunny 106.5 Ice Cream Sunday is presented by Sunny 106.5, Clear Channel Media + Entertainment, Providence Master Planned Community, Providence Master Homeowners Association, Meadow Gold and Team Ford Lincoln.
Before and after the event, attendees are invited to tour the 1,200-acre master plan and its variety of neighborhoods built by its homebuilder partners, many of whom are offering new products. They include: KB Home, Lennar, Pardee, Richmond American Homes, Ryland Homes, Summit Homes and Woodside Homes.
For example, the Cambridge community from KB Home features a new 1,992-square-foot plan with four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a loft and covered patio starting at $197,990. Smaller homes also are available, priced from $177,990. For information, call 702)-541-8641.
Woodside Homes’ new Emerson community offers three single-family floor plans ranging from 1,485 to 1,659 square feet, with three to four bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms from the mid $170s. This quiet neighborhood debuts many energy-saving features, including an available zero-down solar utility system, and rooms designed for today’s living. Emerson is on the southwest corner of Hualapai Way and Farm Road. For more information, call 702 645-3882.
Providence is the country’s eighth best-selling master-planned community and Nevada’s second best-seller, according to several leading real estate advisory firms. Its communities feature wide, tree-lined boulevards, miles of trails systems and parks (a third opening later this year) with multi-use fields and kids’ areas. The master plan is minutes from shopping, dining and I-215 and U.S. 95 access, and close to Nellis and Creech Air Forces bases.
