Jim Finley, a retired police chief from Springfield, Ill., has been buying Jeep Wranglers from the Chapman Chrysler Jeep dealership in the Valley Automall since he moved to Las Vegas in 2003. That includes two this year alone. That brings Finley’s Jeep purchases to five and his total vehicle purchases from Chapman to 19 for him and his family.
“I bought a 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited earlier this year,” Finley said, “but after seeing the 2012 version with its larger engine and 40 percent increase in horsepower, I knew I had to trade in my 2011 for the newest model. For the record, I’m loyal to Chapman because their employees have the best customer service and are extremely knowledgeable about their products.”
The new 2012 Jeep Wrangler is fitted with the 60-degree 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, a 4-cam aluminum-block engine that puts out 285 bhp at 6400 rpm and 260 pound-feet of torque at 4800 rpm on regular 87-octane unleaded fuel. Gas mileage per gallon has actually increased. The new interior features heated mirrors and seats and added sound deadening. The Wrangler’s polish continues outside when optioned with the body-colored hardtop.
Autoweek magazine said of the new Jeep Wrangler, “The looks, the drive character, the price — they all strike the right chord for Jeep faithful. Plus, rocks will tremble when they see you coming.”
“Jim Finley is one of our best customers ever,” said Gary Brewer, general manager of Chapman Chrysler Jeep. “He continues to come to us for his automotive needs, whether it’s for one of our new or preowned vehicles. His loyalty is what we strive for with every customer and what keeps us the No. 1 Wrangler dealer in Nevada.”
Built in Toledo, Ohio, the 2012 Jeep Wranglers are offered in the two-door and four-door Unlimited form, the latter version is now making up 60 percent of Wrangler volume. Three basic models continue, priced almost identically to last year: the Sport, Sahara and Rubicon. The Rubicon can be ordered with a body-color hardtop and fenders for the first time.
Finley’s purchases have ranged from a Jeep Liberty and Commander to a preowned Taurus and Mustang, but the Jeep Wrangler has always stood out as his favorite because of its power on and off the road.
