Lexus of Las Vegas announced it is a corporate sponsor of the Special Olympics Nevada fifth annual Pedal to the Medal charity bicycle event in commemoration of special Olympian Andrea Jagodzinski, who died in 2007. All proceeds raised will stay local and provide free sports opportunities for Special Olympics Nevada athletes.
The first wave of riders pedal off at 6:30 a.m. Sept. 27 from the West Career and Technical Academy, 11945 W. Charleston Blvd. Bike routes and registration fees include: a 25-mile ride, $40; 50-mile ride with optional hill climb, $50; and a 100-mile century ride with optional hill climb, $65.
“The Pedal to the Medal ride is one of the best cycling events in Las Vegas,” said Kimberly Carter-Schlotthauer, special events director of Special Olympics Nevada. “These rides offer something for riders of all levels and abilities with several route options and a free bicycle rodeo for both children and people with special needs. Our In Celebration of Andrea event is dedicated to Andrea Jagodzinski, who was very active in Special Olympics.”
Besides a monetary donation, Lexus of Las Vegas is providing water to all riders, sag vehicles and professional medical support for injured riders. The dealership is sponsoring a raffle and will have several new Lexus vehicles on display. A Lexus of Las Vegas team of 19 bicyclists will also be participating in various rides.
“I participate in the Pedal to the Medal ride because Special Olympics inspires me, too,” said Mark Bivens, service director of Lexus of Las Vegas.
Registration includes the ride of your choice, rest-stop support, lunch, a T-shirt and swag bag. To guarantee a T-shirt and swag bag, registration must be done by Aug. 29. Riders who register after that date will be given items while supplies last.
“Lexus of Las Vegas is excited to again be a corporate sponsor of this wonderful Special Olympics Nevada fundraiser,” said Bill Garness, general manager of Lexus of Las Vegas.
