Local TV show producers aiming to introduce Walk of Fame

Janet Revere and Linda Shore shed light on All Stars every week.

As producers and hosts of the bilingual variety show called "Buscando Estrellas," or "looking for stars," Revere and Shore consider each guest -- from actors and dancers to mariachi bands, poets and hip-hop artists -- stars in their eyes.

"Everyone comes to Las Vegas to see if they can be successful, and there is so much talent," Revere said. "Local talent can come here to express their talent and promote themselves."

Shore tells each guest their worth, she said.

"Everyone has something to offer," Shore said.

The pair hope to give more recognition to superstar guests via a "Buscando Estrellas" Walk of Fame on a namesake street.

A radio show-turned-variety program, "Buscando Estrellas" has kept an open-door policy for artists by Revere, a former television personality and actress in her native Mexico.

"I know how hard it is (to get air time) when someone has talent," Revere said.

Revere launched her show five years ago and, despite growth, continues to helm roles as camerawoman, producer, director and editor. She is also manager of the 22-acre retail property around and including LV Fashion Discount Mall, 2201 N. Civic Center Drive.

Property owner and late real estate agent Dahlas Antoku gave Revere a 3,500-square-foot room to house the "Buscando Estrellas" studio, offices and space for acting and modeling classes.

The program is filmed Mondays and aired Saturdays and Sundays on public access stations. There is no fee to appear on the all-ages, all-talents program.

Revere introduced a new dynamic to the show last year with Shore, a clinical hypnotherapist.

"I said, 'I want to do a TV show for you,' and she laughed," Revere said.

Shore hosts segments about healthy living as well as confidential interviews with people trying to break patterns such as addiction and abuse.

"We have the opportunity to do something good for our neighbors," Shore said.

The pair describe "Buscando Estrellas" as "a little bit of everything." Revere has interviewed stars at the Latin Grammy Awards, local celebrities, artists on the brink of stardom and politicians for the program, including North Las Vegas Mayor Shari Buck.

Revere's latest idea involves an OK from the city of North Las Vegas. She aims to rename a portion of Constitution Way on Antoku's commercial property Buscando Estrellas.

Because the portion is on private property, Revere and Shore don't need city approval, but Revere wants it to be official, she said.

"We want it to be legitimate," she said.

Once the namesake street is established, Revere and Shore hope to erect a Walk of Fame there. Notable guests or program supporters would receive a granite star in recognition of their efforts, Revere said.

Revere and Shore presented the idea to the City Council on Feb. 15 and have been corresponding with the Public Works Department, they said.

"We want to promote the arts, talent and culture and make people feel proud of themselves," she said. "It's to do something positive."
