Massive herd of elk hops fence, crosses road, stops traffic

A massive herd of elk was caught on video crossing a road in Montana, but it’s the last little elk that’s made the video go viral.

In the video posted to YouTube, you see the majority of the elk clear the fence with no problem, but then about a minute in, there’s a little elk at the back of the herd that struggles.

And it’s a persistent little elk.

So persistent that you find yourself rooting for it to just make it over the fence as it tries and tries over and over again even after continuously failing.

The video was posted by Austin Stonnell on March 27 and has seen over 1 million views.

According to the description on the YouTube video, it appeared to have happened in Bozeman near Yellowstone National Park.

“I have never seen a herd this big,” Stonnell wrote in the caption of the video. “Poor little guy at the end … leave no elk behind.”

Just over the two-and-a-half-minute mark, the little elk finally gets over the fence and runs to catch up with the rest of the herd, some of which had waited patiently on the other side of the road.
