While not directly related to the growing movement for U.S. newspapers to aggressively protect its content, those interested in the general topic will find this story out of Germany interesting. Courts there have ruled that Google’s subsidiary YouTube Inc. must compensate singer Sarah Brightman for videos uploaded on the site in violation of copyright laws. And why shouldn’t they?
