MORNING LINE: GOP continues cannibalism

Nevada’s Republican Party, murderously hungover after its Election Day meltdown, continues to experiment with its hangover cures.

Conservative activist Chuck Muth, technically an Independent since developing a nasty rash due to his preferred party’s lack of sufficient conservatism, calls the loss of state Sen. Joe Heck (District 5) no great loss in the grand scheme of things. He also calls out Sen. Warren Hardy for a lack of conservative portfolio.

Meanwhile, Republican Party stalwarts as powerful as Sen. Bill Raggio are calling for the party to sober up and move to the middle.

The recalcitrant right wing will have none of that.

In the meantime, the Democrats look astonishingly organized.

Do I hear the rumblings of a break-away third party, one planted far to the right out in IAP and Libertarian country?

That would be a very Nevada thing to do, fellas. Arguably suicidal, but very Nevada.

Repeat after me: You lack strong, credible leadership, the kind that can bring together disparate factions to defeat an opponent. Without a commander capable of making differing sides fall in line, you’ll remain out of step and out of office.
