Mountain Falls features restaurant in golf club

According to executive chef David Hutchison, business at the Mountain Falls Grill Room, located within the Mountain Falls master-planned community in Pahrump 45 miles west of Las Vegas, has grown since first opening four years ago. Hutchison said the restaurant has served thousands of diners in 2009 and he anticipates that it will bring in more business in 2010 as more people discover the Mountain Falls Golf Club.

“We have a mixture of different types of people who enjoy the Grill Room,” Hutchison said.

“We definitely have a following among our local clientele, which includes those who live in Pahrump, residents of Mountain Falls, golfers from the nearby golf club and area groups.”

Hutchison personally spends a lot of time in the restaurant’s stainless steel kitchen preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu includes upscale café-style food and American cuisine complimented by a full selection of cocktails and an array of desserts. Breakfast begins at $3.95, lunch is priced from $5.95 and dinner entrées start from under $10. Hutchison said that a new menu will be introduced in the next month, adding more signature sandwiches and options.

“Our hot pastrami is one of our leading specialties. Also popular is our daily special, making each day a little different,” Hutchison said. “Our patio dining is popular with people enjoying the views of the Mountain Falls Golf Club and mountains along with a delicious meal.

“We are preparing for our special Valentine’s Day menu, which will offer dinner specials along with an open menu. We also offer a special Mother’s Day and Easter buffet. We are planning barbecues for golfers on Fourth of July and Father’s Day, which includes a golf package. Our Thanksgiving Dinner and New Year’s Eve special event have also been popular,” he said.

Wayne and Sheila Biffel, Pahrump residents for 14 years, eat regularly at the restaurant.

“We visit the Grill Room seven days a week, with lunch every day and dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday,” Wayne Biffel said.

Hutchison said consistency is the main reason for repeat customers such as the Biffels.

“We’ve been successful because of the consistency. We have friendly staff and people kind of get to know the servers and those who work here on a personal note. We offer good food. We stay consistent because we continue to offer the same quality product level. Plus the atmosphere is very relaxed. There are not many places where you have the option of either dining inside or outside on a patio overlooking a golf club,” he said.

The Grill Room also offers a meeting space with a special banquet menu that can be customized.

“In 2009, the Grill Room was selected as the site for over 40 special events and meetings for businesses, community organizations, church events and wedding receptions, ranging in size from 25 to 340,” Hutchison said. “We already have many events scheduled for 2010.”

The restaurant is open to the public from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Reservations are suggested, particularly for dinner, large groups and special events, and can be made by calling 775-537-6553.

The Grill Room overlooks the greens of the public, 18-hole, par-72 Mountain Falls Golf Club. In addition to daily greens fees, annual, six-month, three-month and monthly golf passes are available.

Nearby is the Mountain Falls residents’ facility, which provides access to a fitness center, outdoor aquatic center, multipurpose room and lounge.
