The Los Prados Women’s Club is scheduled to host its sixth annual Spring Expo and Gift Show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 30 at the Los Prados Golf Community & Country Club, 5150 Los Prados Circle.

Vendors from the health care field, real estate arena, insurance industry, travel/leisure sector and various home-based businesses are set to participate.

There is no fee to attend.

Church event to include food,
fun and fashion

Get a head start on summer fun while learning tips to keep the good time going during the Family Fair, planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 30 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 7500 Tule Springs Road.

The free festival will include refreshments, crafts, games, a fashion show and sessions to learn more about family genealogy, emergency preparedness, finance, addiction, child rearing and thrifty vacations.

Build your knowledge of muscles during exercise mechanics class

Health professional Jennifer Campbell will discuss the functions of muscles during Muscles the Machine of the Body Part 2, planned for 3-4:30 p.m. Friday at the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive.

The exercise mechanics class is aimed at helping seniors learn about growth, movements, stability and posture as related to healthy muscles.

Ribbon of Life to raise funds
to fight HIV/Aids

Tickets are on sale for Golden Rainbow’s 25th annual Ribbon of Life fundraiser, planned for 1 p.m. June 26 at Paris Las Vegas, 3655 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

The Ribbon of Life has become one of the largest HIV and AIDS fundraisers in the state and is Golden Rainbow’s main source of revenue. The event includes entertainment by performers from premier shows on the Las Vegas Strip.

Tickets are priced at $35, $50 or $100, and VIP-level tickets are available for $200. They can be purchased at parislasvegas.com or ticketmaster.com. All tickets include entry to the after-party.

Water Authority accepting
nominations for Landscape Awards

The Southern Nevada Water Authority’s 13th annual Landscape Awards competition is taking applications.

The contest is open to residents and landscape professionals interested in showing off their water-efficient landscapes.

DJs for PJs plans drive for April 29

The ninth annual DJs for PJs is scheduled for 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 29 to collect new pajamas for children in crisis and to benefit charities throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

Local disc jockeys will encourage donations by broadcasting from five on-site locations, including Kohl’s at 8671 W. Charleston Blvd.

Local celebrities and elected officials also are involved in the effort to collect pajamas and raise awareness about the needs of children in distress.

Soles4Souls seeks shoe donations
to help those in need around globe

Soles4Souls is asking for shoe donations to distribute to people in need around the world.

Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away more than 13 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes (one pair every 7 seconds.) The shoes have been distributed in 125 countries, including Haiti, Kenya, Nepal and the United States.

Clothes4Souls, a new division of Soles4Souls, provides hope for recipients through the gift of new clothing from manufacturers, designers and retailers.

Those who donate unused inventory are assured their contributions are distributed to people around the world living in desperate need.

Homeowners can get legal advice about foreclosure

Homeowners who are going through foreclosure and have elected foreclosure mediation to save their home and have questions in preparation for it can receive free legal advice at the Regional Justice Center’s Self Help Civil Law Center.

The free help is offered through a program run by the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada. The Ask-A-Lawyer program is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon April 26 at the Regional Justice Center, 200 Lewis Ave. Registration is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.

Recycle used writing instruments
at Office Depot

Sanford Brands, Office Depot and TerraCycle Inc. are teaming up during Earth Month.

Customers can bring their used writing instruments, regardless of the brand, to any Office Depot through Saturday.

In exchange for 10 pens, pencils or markers, customers will receive a coupon toward a new Sanford product.

The collected instruments will be sent to TerraCycle, an upcycling and recycling company, to be turned into new office supply products ranging from trash cans to desk organizers.

To further reduce waste, TerraCycle and Old Navy are partnering from Friday through May 21 to collect used flip flops and recycle them into four public playgrounds. Deposit used flip flops in designated collection bins at area Old Navy stores.
