Sign up for grant writing class

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension plans a Nuts and Bolts of Grant Writing session from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and June 28 at the Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road.

Nonprofit and government organization participants will learn how to develop a community needs assessment; set goals; write outcome objectives; create a working budget; develop a budget; and write a budget narrative.

The class instructor is Pamela Kahn-Van Pelt, a grant and resource specialist for the Cooperative Extension.

Golf tournament to benefit
Down Syndrome charity

The 14th annual Down Syndrome Charity Golf Tournament is set for a
1:30 p.m. shotgun start Friday at the Siena Golf Club, 10575 Siena Monte Ave.

Proceeds will benefit the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada.

A regular foursome is $600, and an individual entry fee is $150. The entry fee includes range balls, 18 holes, a cart, refreshments on the course, a player’s bag, a polo shirt, one raffle ticket and the awards dinner.

Summerlin Art Festival
calling for artisans

Artists who work in a variety of media and styles are invited to apply for participation in the 17th Summerlin Art Festival, scheduled for Sept. 24 and 25 at Summerlin Centre Community Park, 1800 S. Town Center Drive.

The free, annual outdoor festival usually attracts more than 20,000 art lovers.

Past artist participants have included painters, jewelers, sculptors and fine craftsmen.

More than 100 artists are expected to participate.

In addition to the artists, the festival also will feature live entertainment, chalk art and a variety of food and beverage options.
