Nevada campaign trail photo wins award

A photo taken in North Las Vegas in the final days of the 2010 Senate race between Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Republican Sharron Angle has won a top prize from the White House News Photographers Association.

Neither Reid nor Angle is in the photo. Rather it was shot last Nov. 1, as Reid supporters take pictures of themselves with Michelle Obama magazine covers while awaiting the first lady’s appearance at a Reid rally at Canyon Springs High School.

The photo was taken by Bill Clark, staff photographer for Roll Call, the newspaper/website that covers Congress. It won first place in the Portrait/Personality category of the White House News Photographers Association 2011 Eyes of History photo contest.

Here’s the shot.
