NLV Delmonico neighborhood cleanup planned

The city of North Las Vegas and Ward 2 Councilwoman Pamela Goynes-Brown invite residents to join the Delmonico neighborhood cleanup from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 28. Cleanup volunteers will meet near the corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and June Street, just north of Carey Avenue.

During the cleanup, volunteers will help residents beautify their neighborhood block by block with graffiti removal, red curb painting and litter removal.

The work will be followed by a free family reunion-style block party at Walker Park, 1509 June St. The block party will feature food, games and prizes, while supplies last, all donated by neighborhood businesses and nonprofit community partners. The celebration will feature a community resource fair with exhibitors from social and family-oriented services.

The cleanup and celebration are intended to maintain neighborhood stability and avoid neglect and blight in an area that has been hart hit by foreclosures. These events are in line with the City Council’s priorities and strategic plan for future stability in that they build community connections and encourage community spirit and pride.
