HOMEFRONT CELEBRATION COMES TO LAS VEGAS

Operation Homefront of Nevada, a nonprofit that provides emergency financial and other assistance to military families and wounded warriors, plans to hold a celebration for military spouses from 6 to 9 p.m. March 14 at the Aliante, 7300 Aliante Parkway.

Military spouses can look forward to a night catered for them, including dinner, a special gift and guest speaker Holly Scherer, author of “Military Spouse Journey.”

PLANETARIUM HOSTING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

The Planetarium at the College of Southern Nevada hosts educational programs and stargazing Fridays and Saturdays at 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave. Tickets are $4 for children and seniors and $6 for adults. For more information, visit csn.edu.

ALL 4 KIDS TO OFFER PROGRAM FOR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN AND PARENTS

The All 4 Kids, a program of the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, is offering a 13-week program for preschool children ages 3 to 5 and their parents to encourage families to be healthy, happy, active and fit.

Families are provided interactive experiences that promote healthful habits regarding physical activity, eating and living healthily. Participants will receive free materials to continue activities at home such as nutrition and fitness games and recipes.

E BUNNY COLLECTING EASTER BASKETS FOR VALLEY CHILDREN

The 2014 Easter Basket Drive is scheduled through April 11.

Donors are encouraged to pick new prepackaged Easter baskets that can be dropped off at any E Bunny location. The drive is planned to benefit homeless, sick and underprivileged children.

CITY OF NORTH LAS VEGAS TO OFFER ONLINE ACCOUNT ACCESS SYSTEM, SMS APPLICATION

The city of North Las Vegas plans to provide two environmentally friendly options for billing and account notifications. Customers of the North Las Vegas Utility Department can sign up for SMS or text messaging service at tinyurl.com/NLVsmsapp.

Once subscribed, customers will be notified via text message when their utility bill is ready for viewing and when payments are received along with other account information.

Customers can also sign up for an electronic billing service at tinyurl.com/NLVelecbill. Once subscribed, customers will be notified by email when their utility bill is ready for viewing. The email will contain a link to a secured website where customers can sign in, review and pay their utility bill.

MASTER GARDENERS OFFER WEEKLY TOURS

Master Gardeners offer weekly garden tours from 10 a.m. to noon Fridays at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Demonstration Gardens, 8050 Paradise Road.

Master Gardeners plan to offer free weekly walking tours aimed at teaching visitors about many of the more than 500 plants that grow in harsh southwestern desert landscapes around Las Vegas.

In addition to scheduled tours, the grounds are open for self-guided tours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

CIVIL AIR PATROL TO MEET

The Nellis Senior Squadron of the Nevada Wing Civil Air Patrol meets from 7 to 8 p.m. the second and fourth Monday of each month in the Grand Canyon Room at the North Las Vegas Air Terminal, 2730 Airport Drive.
