EARTH HOUR TO BE RECOGNIZED MARCH 29
The city of Las Vegas plans to mark Earth Hour from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 29 by having City Hall go dark for an hour. The city’s website also will “dim,” and KCLV Channel 2 programming will take a break to show the city’s commitment to sustainability and energy conservation.
Boyd Gaming also plans to join the effort by turning off non-essential exterior building and marquee lighting at The Orleans, Sam’s Town, the Suncoast and the Gold Coast. The video screen on each marquee will display the Earth Hour logo during that period.

ALLIANCE OF HOMEOWNERS AND CONCERNED CITIZENS MEETING PLANNED
The next meeting of the North Las Vegas Alliance of Homeowner Associations and Concerned Citizens is planned for 6 p.m. March 27 at the Aliante Library, 2400 W. Deer Springs Road. An appearance with tea party candidate Niger Innis is scheduled. All candidates running for elected office are welcome to speak briefly and provide literature.
In addition, Geoff Lawrence of the Nevada Policy Research Institute is set to give a presentation on the margin tax, which is set to be on the November ballot.

NEIGHBORHOOD RECREATION CENTER PLANS TRIP TO PINBALL HALL

ALL 4 KIDS TO OFFER PROGRAM FOR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN AND PARENTS
The All 4 Kids, a program of the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, is offering a 13-week program for preschool children ages 3 to 5 and their parents to encourage families to be healthy, happy, active and fit.
Families are provided interactive experiences that promote healthful habits regarding physical activity, eating and healthy living. Participants will receive free materials to continue activities at home such as nutrition and fitness games and recipes.

KIWANIS CLUB WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS

Master Gardeners plan to offer free weekly walking tours aimed at teaching visitors about many of the more than 500 plants that grow in harsh southwestern desert landscapes around Las Vegas.
