Nurse counts on Veloster from Planet Hyundai

Janine Tafoya is a home health nurse whose expertise is needed all across the valley on any given day. When she needed a new car, she took her father's advice and purchased a 2012 Hyundai Veloster from Planet Hyundai Centennial in the northwest valley.

"I go all over town, and it's so very important that I meet my scheduled appointments," said Tafoya, a native Las Vegan and graduate of Clark High School who is also a licensed practical nurse. "In many cases, it's important that I get there to provide the badly needed medications for my patients, so being late is not an option."

The Veloster is definitely a car that Tafoya can count on.

For instance, the Bluetooth has all the phone numbers that I need," she said. "It's voice-activated, so I can call anyone with voice command. With the new law where we cannot talk on the cellphone, this is so much easier. I love the feature, especially when I need to make contact with one of my patients."

Even more important is that the Veloster has Blue Link, which enables drivers to find a particular address simply by voice command.

"All I need to do is tell it where I want to go, and the Blue Link provides a visual," she said. "It will ask me if I need directions, and when I tell it I do need them, the directions are there for me."

With so much construction across Las Vegas now, the Blue Link will offer alternative routes to help avoid any potential delays.

In addition, the Veloster is automatically connected to popular music.

"You can do a voice command or touch the screen for the song you want," she said.

Tafoya expects to put as many as 2,000 miles a month on her Veloster, so gas mileage also is a key issue.

"One of the features of the car lets me know on a continual basis what kind of fuel mileage I'm getting," she said. "I would say that I have gotten anywhere from 32 to 50 miles to the gallon depending on the situation. I get great mileage on the freeway, which is where I can get 40 to 50 miles to the gallon."

Tafoya said her four-cylinder, 138-horsepower Veloster gets countless looks. The 10-year, 100,000-mile power train warranty along with the five-year, 60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty completed the package.

"All of my friends were impressed with the Veloster," Tafoya said. "I showed it to one of my patients and she absolutely loved it."

Tafoya said her sales consultant, David Spence, was a huge help.
"He was a no-pressure sales consultant. He helped me so much. I had a firm budget and he helped to stay within it."
