Planet Hyundai earns top score for service

Planet Hyundai Sahara dominated virtually every category in the latest figures for J.D. Power’s Customer Service Index. It was named the No. 1 Hyundai dealership for the second straight quarter.

The CSI is considered the heartbeat of the car business and leading the category is considered proof that the locally owned dealership has crossed all of its t’s and dotted its i’s. The index’s categories include sales, service, parts and automobile delivery and is based on surveys conducted by customers after they have purchased a vehicle.

“It’s important because we want to make sure every one of our customers is happy and this tells us that we’re doing a good job,” said Paul Pelletier, the dealership’s general manager and a 30-year car-business veteran. “Today we live and die by the CSI and this needs to remain at its highest level at all times. We are always fine-tuning our dealership and we learn by studying the results of the customer surveys.”

Planet Hyundai also was recently named the top dealership in the Western region for the second straight quarter; it increased its sales numbers in 2012 by 12 percent compared with the previous year.

Pelletier said the ability to recognize a need for change is the secret to Planet Hyundai Sahara’s success .

One of the biggest advances was the mid-2012 addition of delivery coordinators, who explain the function and components of each vehicle to customers while also making certain that each car comes complete with all that’s been promised and expected by the customer.

Among the delivery coordinators is Josh Fisher, who moved into the department in February after working in sales for a year. He works hand-in-hand with Bob Higdon, who has been considered the most informed salesman in the company before going into the department with Fisher.

“It’s very important to treat the customer with the proper respect considering what they just invested in their automobile, which is generally the second biggest purchase in a person’s life behind a house,” Fisher said. “We must know the car from front to back and side to side, along with every button. I’m pretty confident how much I know about the cars and I also understand the importance of being able to help people.”
