The Hyundai Equus is more than just any other vehicle. Hailed as the answer to the high-end automobile market with a much lower price, each Equus purchased at either of the Planet Hyundai dealerships comes with an unmatched list of special touches, according to company officials.
The Equus is the highest-performing large premium model in the highly touted 2011 Automotive Performance Execution and Layout Study. It was rated among 200 models.
Four Planet Hyundai Centennial sales consultants – all certified to sell the Equus after extensive training and testing – praised the vehicle for its luxury inside and out, handling, performance and customer service features, which includes no maintenance costs for five years or 60,000 miles.
“I owned a $92,000 2001 Mercedes and I don’t believe quality-wise that it should be parked in the same lot as an Equus, which is 60 percent of the cost,” said Planet Hyundai Centennial sales consultant Michael Landau . “I have also had a Q 45 Infiniti, along with high-end Cadillacs and Lincolns and none of them measure up to an Equus. I would put the Equus up against any of them.”
Landau added that the price of the Equus also means that the buyer profile is wide and multifaceted.
“The Equus is an investment in lifestyle at a much lower price than most luxury vehicles,” he said. “My buyers have included everyone from a retired city worker to a nurse. The spectrum is large. I tell people there’s no sense in paying another 50 percent for another vehicle just for the emblem. You cannot beat the features and value inherent in the Equus.”
Bill Niver, a veteran with more than 20 years in the car business, said he is fascinated with the Equus.
“The car sells itself,” said Niver, who has sold more than 1,000 vehicles and owned some 128 cars since he was 17. “I can offer an Equus for $65,000 that you won’t find for less than $120,000 in another car. I really get a thrill out of selling the Equus because I know the buyer will be happy when they drive away. The Equus is the finest car I have ever sold.”
Internet Sales Manager Chris Rooney said the warranty on the Equus is unbelievable. The vehicle even comes loaded with features including climate controlled and massaging seats and a cooler in the arm rest of the rear seats.
In addition, the back seat has a built-in video system.
“Not only does the buyer get the 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty, but he or she also gets oil changes without charge; and a valet will come to the owner’s house to pick up the car and return it when the service is completed,” explained Rooney. “If the owner needs a loaner, that is provided, too. You can schedule your service on the included iPad. No one offers a service package like the one you find with an Equus.”
Todd Fowler has been in the car business for nine years. He said his buyer profile has included an FBI agent and the president of a local homebuilding company.
“These are high-end people who know their business,” Fowler said of the Equus buyers. “One buyer traded in a Lexus S460 with only 20,000 miles. I love selling the Equus. It’s the best car for the price on the planet now.”
