Providence breaks ground on park

Good things come in threes, and so it is with parks at the Providence master plan, which just broke ground on its third park. Huckleberry Park will join The Promenade and Knickerbocker Park at the fast-selling community in northwest Las Vegas.

Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross joined Providence developer Focus Property Group, community residents and homeowners association representatives at the Huckleberry site for a groundbreaking ceremony, including shoveling dirt to secure the flagpole and raise the park’s American flag.

“It’s great to be celebrating yet another milestone in the development of this fantastic community and the benefits a park brings to its residents,” Councilman Ross said. His ward covers the 1,200-acre Providence area. “Open space and parks are important to our quality of life, and Providence residents are fortunate that Focus Property Group understands this, as it continues to add amenities to the community. Considering the economic downturn we’re beginning to emerge from, building this park takes on even more significance.”

Huckleberry Park will have large and small dog parks, multiuse events field, full court basketball, an outdoor stage area, swings, picnic areas, shade ramada and other space designated for future amenities. Located at the southwest corner of Farm Road and Egan Crest Way, it will open in phases beginning in late 2014 and is expected to cost $2 million.

“Parks like this illustrate why residents love living here and homebuyers continue to purchase homes here, placing Providence among the fastest-selling master-planned communities in the country,” said John Ritter, CEO of Focus Property Group. “The addition of Huckleberry Park, our third park, is a continuation of our vision for Providence and its small town America ambiance with many outdoor, lifestyle, fitness and recreational amenities for all ages. They enrich the quality of life, and the park provides another venue for both homeowners and community events.”

The park’s name draws inspiration from the classic Mark Twain character “Huckleberry Finn.”

Since opening, Providence has consistently ranked as one of the Top 10 fastest-selling master planned communities in the United States by RCLCO and other leading independent real estate advisory firms. It now is the fifth fastest-selling master plan and No. 2 seller in Nevada. Upon completion, the community will house 7,500 residences.

Homebuilders include Beazer Homes, KB Home, Lennar, Pardee, Richmond American Homes, Ryland Homes, Warmington Residential Nevada and Woodside Homes.

Providence features parks, trail systems and wide tree-lined boulevards; is near schools, shopping, dining and has access to the Las Vegas Beltway and U.S. Highway 95 access. It also is close to Nellis and Creech Air Force bases.

Residents benefit from many social, recreational, community and education programs through the Providence Master Homeowners Association. It is managed by Capital Consultants Management Corp.

The information center is at 7181 N. Hualapai Way, Suite 150, and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. It is near the Las Vegas Beltway and Hualapai Way. For more information, call 702-433-5084 or visit www.providencelv.com.
