The Housing Division to hold public meetings in March
The Housing Division will hold a public meeting March 5 starting at 11 a.m. at the Grant Sawyer State Office Building, 555 E. Washington Ave., Room 4401.
The purpose of the workshop is to review the current and forecasted economic data and barriers for improving or reducing current foreclosure rates, helping borrowers with high levels of upside-down mortgages and helping to keep the unemployed and underemployed families in their homes.
The following general topics are scheduled to be addressed in the meeting by either staff or a panel of experts:
1. Outline of the new federal initiative and general time frames for implementation.
2. Current economic and lender data on the Nevada real estate market and troubled loans. Forecasted home value changes, unemployment rates and foreclosure data.
3. Barriers to foreclosure mitigation efforts currently underway; potential alternative avenues to aiding underwater borrowers and their funding/costs and potential bridge financing alternatives.
Persons wishing to comment upon the topics discussed may appear at the meeting. Comments per speaker will be limited to three to five minutes.
Written comments may be addressed to the Chief Financial Officer, Nevada Housing Division 1535 Old Hot Springs Road, Suite 50, Carson City, Nev. 89706. Written submissions must be received by March 12.
