Reid camp licking its chops

Sen. Harry Reid is licking his chops at the burst of late infighting among Republican challengers, eager to unleash fury (or at least his accumulated millions of dollars) at whoever survives the GOP primary.

The senator's campaign "clearly relishes the thought of taking on (Sharron) Angle and claiming (Sue) Lowden's scalp," Politico.com says in a piece today.

Reid's campaign already has cut anti-Angle commercials, as the former Republican Assemblywoman from Reno rides a late surge to close the gap with Lowden, the former GOP state party chairwoman, in advance of the June 8 primary.

Dems plan to color Angle as an extremist and not ready for prime time. Even her website has spelling and grammar errors, the story notes.

"Things are finally going our way," Politico quotes one Reid adviser. "He's coming back."

For her part Angle says Reid should be careful what he wishes for.

"I think they are not really reading what is truly going on if they think I'm going to be an easy opponent for Harry Reid," she told the publication.

Lowden, meanwhile, was not happy with the questions she was being asked by a Politico reporter, and "abrupty hung up the phone."
