Residents extol city view from Tuscany Residential Village homes

When Dr. Gary Becker and his wife, Ursula, moved to Las Vegas, they lived in a home that at first offered them a nice view of the valley.

Then additional homes were built and their view of the city turned into an ever-expanding series of rooftops.

They purchased a home at the Montebello in Rhodes' Tuscany Residential Village, which sits at the edge of the master-planned community's signature golf course where their view will never be obstructed.

"When we bought our last home, we didn't appreciate the fact that the view we originally had disappeared so quickly," said Gary Becker, who moved to Las Vegas after spending more than 20 years in Houston. "When we bought this house, we wanted to make sure our view would be nice, and would be one that would last."

For the Beckers, having a home with a view is important, since they enjoy spending time outside with their dog Sammy.

"My wife and I enjoy being outside with our dog and it's nice to be able to sit down and look out on the beautiful view that we have at Tuscany," he said. "The surrounding mountains, the golf course and the valley come together nicely here."

In addition to the couple's view, they also like the location of their new community atop the hills of Henderson.

"We love the location of the community, since it's close to Lake Las Vegas and not far from everything else in the city," Gery Becker said. "It's also a very quite and peaceful place to live."

The Becker family is also looking forward to the opening of Tuscany's La Vita Tuscana, a 35,000-square-foot facility that will include a fitness center, billiards room, full-length basketball court, two handball/racquetball courts, meeting rooms, multipurpose/craft room, locker, sauna rooms, kitchen and a card room.

The facility's grounds will include tennis courts, lap pool, lagoon pool, play area and picnic area.

"The new facility is right down the street from our home, and it will be great to be able to walk there and get some exercise," Gary Becker said.

When the guard-gated Tuscany Residential Village, is complete, a road looping through the villages in the golf course community will bring together an estimated 6,000 residents living in more than 2,000 homes.

The centerpiece of the community is the Tuscany Golf Club, which was designed by Ted Robinson Jr.

The 6,906-yard, par 72 course was recently named Golf Magazine's No. 1 Golf Course in Las Vegas in its annual BBQ (Bang for the Buck Quotient) rankings.

Seven model home communities, comprising 22 models and more than 33 floor plans, ranging from 1,724 to 4,876 square feet, are now open in Tuscany.

Each offers floor plans including three-story town homes, single-story homes, two-story homes, three-story homes with lofts, and great rooms with kitchens featuring large center islands.

Prices in Tuscany begin in the $200,000s.

To visit the models, take Lake Mead Drive past Boulder Highway to Mohawk Drive and turn left. Office hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Prospective buyers can find information on the development by calling 873-7287 or visiting rhodes-homes.com.
