School principal says she’s sold on new SUV’s safety features

Monica Cortez had been begging her husband for a year to buy a new car. Her only requirements were that it have highly rated safety features, an interior cabin roomy enough to haul her two boys and their equipment to sporting events and impeccable styling — not your typical soccer-mom mobile.

Cortez and her husband, Alex, researched Lexus vehicles and decided that a 2014 GX460 sports utility vehicle fit their needs.

But when they went to Lexus of Henderson to test drive a model, none were in stock at the time.

“As soon as Amee (Anthony) came out and greeted me we hit it off,” Cortez said. “She knew how to talk to a woman. I’m grateful Amee was respectful of what I wanted and didn’t try to switch me to another vehicle. She said two were coming in soon and was good about keeping me informed.”

Cortez, a principal at Knudson Middle School, said she was immediately impressed with the extra reinforcements throughout her GX460’s doors.

Parking assist features such as sensors that alert you when another vehicle or people are approaching at the front and back of the vehicle and a convenient back-up camera were exactly what Cortez said she was looking for in a luxury SUV.

“I have two boys Kendyl, 10, and Kayden, 7, who prefer my car over my husband’s mini-van that has a TV in it,” Cortez said laughing. “And the heating and cooling features in the second and third rows — that was huge.”

Cortez said she would definitely buy another Lexus because of the vehicles’ reputation and reliability. She said she also enjoyed the friendliness and professionalism at the Lexus of Henderson dealership.

“It was a breath of fresh air dealing with Monica,” sales agent Amee Anthony said. “It was helpful that she did her research before coming in. I wanted to make sure Monica knew how the car felt to drive and how all the options work.”

The dealership is at the Valley Automall, 7736 Eastgate Road in Henderson. For more information, call 702-228-7736 or visit www.lexusofhenderson.com
