Searching for ‘macaca’

WASHINGTON -- It is the latest twist in guerrilla politics.

Taking a page from the Michael Moore-style of confrontational interviews, video camera-wielding "trackers" for the Republican Party have been ambushing Democrats on Capitol Hill with questions intended to provoke a reaction.

Which of course would be captured on video and then posted online to embarrass the Democrat. In so doing, Republicans hope to create the latest "macaca moment."

If you need a refresher on the etymology of that term, here it is. Even better, on video.

David Lightman of the McClatchy Newspapers explains what's going on in this piece. (Lightman told me he checked and found no evidence the Democrats have adopted the tactic.)

One of the GOP ambush targets last month was Nevada Rep. Dina Titus. How did she react when confronted by the questioner? Check it out.
