Sullivan Square lives ‘sustainably’

Sullivan Square’s sustainable building practices will likely result in increased building efficiency and fiscal savings for residents of the new mixed-use development located in the southwest area of the valley, according to GSG Development, the developer of Sullivan Square.

The company stated it is working with some of the most experienced sustainable building experts in the country to achieve a responsible and healthy living environment.

One example is Lynn N. Simon, president of Simon & Associates and one of the country’s pre-eminent sustainable building consultants. Among the many elements being incorporated at Sullivan Square, there is one that Simon considers the community’s greatest achievement — its water treatment system.

The system is expected to save 45 million gallons of water per year by capturing water from toilets, showers and sinks. The water will be treated on-site and used to irrigate Sullivan Square’s common areas.

Sullivan Square is also incorporating low-emitting interior finishes such as paints and carpeting that emit fewer toxins to improve indoor air quality.

Other sustainable building elements at Sullivan Square include a pedestrian-friendly design, parks and grassy areas, efficient plumbing fixtures in all residences and light-colored street pavers and roofing materials.

To encourage residents to recycle, Sullivan Square will provide convenient recycling storage and collection areas in all residential buildings, and preferred parking will be provided for Sullivan Square residents who own low-emitting and fuel-efficient vehicles.

“Sullivan Square is one of the first residential projects of its kind in Las Vegas, and the green living elements it incorporates give us the ability to impact thousands of people,” Simon said. “Residents at Sullivan Square will have the ability to truly lead healthier lives.”

Upon completion, Sullivan Square will consist of about 1,300 residences. Madison Tower II is currently offering 176 units with 27 floor plans ranging in size from 641 to nearly 1,900 square feet, with first-release prices beginning in the low $300,000s.

The Sullivan Square sales center is located at 8930 Spanish Ridge Ave. and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. To visit, take Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, exit Russell Road and head north on Frontage Road. Turn east on Hacienda Avenue and south into The Park at Spanish Ridge.
