COMPUTER CLUB TO MEET MAY 17 AT TOTAL WINE & MORE

The Clark County Commodore Computer Club plans to meet from 9 to 11 a.m. May 17 at Total Wine & More in Boca Park, 730 S. Rampart Blvd.

The club is for enthusiasts of the Commodore line of computers. Planned demonstrations include the Leapmotion motion controller for PC or Mac.

JEWISH GENEALOGY SOCIETY TO MEET MAY 18 AT SAHARA WEST LIBRARY

The Jewish Genealogy Society of Southern Nevada plans to meet at 1:30 p.m. May 18 at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.

The society is set to conduct part three of four Beginning Genealogy Methods workshops. This one is set to cover the immigration and naturalization process and the records produced.

The society meets at 1 p.m. the third Sunday of each month. Meetings are open to the public.

HISTORY PROFESSOR TO ADDRESS TEMPLE BETH SHOLOM ACTIVE ADULTS GROUP

HUMANA PLANS MAY 21 OPEN HOUSE FOR VETERANS

Veterans, their families and the public are invited to a veterans celebration and open house in honor of Memorial Day set for 11 a.m. May 21 at the Humana Guidance Center, 8975 W. Charleston Blvd., Suite 100.

TEAM CHALLENGE INFORMATION SESSIONS PLANNED

Team Challenge, an endurance training and fundraising program for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, plans to host information sessions in May and June, including at 7 p.m. May 22 and 11 a.m. June 7 at REI in Boca Park, 710 S. Rampart Blvd., at 6 p.m. June 10 at LV Cyclery, 10575 Discovery Drive, and at 6 p.m. June 12 at Gordon Biersch in Boca Park, 750 S. Rampart Blvd.

Professional coaches plan to host group training sessions and clinics on swimming, bike maintenance, equipment, injury prevention, nutrition, fueling and hydration and other relevant topics for three sessions per week. After 16 weeks of training, Team Challenge participants will travel to San Diego for the Sept. 21 TriRock triathalon.

BRANDEIS NATIONAL COMMITTEE TO HOST BOARD INSTALLATION EVENT MAY 22

The Las Vegas chapter of the Brandeis National Committee plans to host its 2014 board of directors installation May 22 at The Mad Greek Cafe, 8565 W. Sahara Ave.

Dinner, entertainment and prizes are planned. Proceeds will benefit the Sustaining the Mind campaign to support neuroscience research at Brandeis University and to establish an endowed scholarship for students in the sciences. The group’s mission is to support Brandeis University by providing philanthropic support for the liberal arts and research university.

A free federal grants workshop is planned from 2 to 4 p.m. May 22 at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave. Attendees will receive information on federal grants from the offices of Sen. TRAVEL CLUB TO MEET MAY 27 AT TAP HOUSE

The Las Vegas Singles Travel and Social Club for mature singles plans to meet at 7 p.m. May 27 at the Tap House, 5589 W. Charleston Blvd. Meetings are set for the fourth Tuesday of every month, with a half hour of social time before the meeting. Meetings consist of a short business portion and a guest speaker. NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR WINGED HEART AWARD

The Clark County Medical Society is accepting public and peer-to-peer nominations for the annual Winged Heart Award through May 22. The award recognizes nurses dedicated to raising the bar of health care in Southern Nevada and nonprofits with the mission to improve health and wellness.

LAS VEGAS 51S HOSTING T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST

The Las Vegas 51s T-shirt contest is ongoing. The winning design will be printed on the front of the 2,500 T-shirts that will be given out at the June 7 home game. The winning designer will throw out the first pitch. The winning design will be picked May 23.

RESET SUMMERLIN EVENT SET FOR JUNE 1

Reset Summerlin is scheduled to be hosted by The Fit Labs, 8645 W. Flamingo Road, the first Sunday of every month. The next one is scheduled for June 1.

HENRY PRENDES CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC RAISES $31,500 FOR HENRY’S PLACE

The eighth annual Henry Prendes Charity Golf Classic, held April 26 at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, raised more than $31,500 for Henry’s Place. Funds will go to a camp facility for underprivileged youths in development in Cedar City, Utah.

SUMMERLIN COUNCIL ANNOUNCES PHOTO CONTEST, SEEKS PARADE PARTICIPANTS

The Summerlin Council is seeking businesses and organizations that would like to participate in the 2014 Fourth of July Patriotic Parade.

To highlight the event’s 20th anniversary, residents are invited to enter a photo contest showing their favorite parade memories. Photos can be submitted at summerlin.com in May, and in June, judges will select the best photos to be featured on Summerlin’s Facebook and Instagram pages. The winner will be invited to participate in this year’s parade with an entry that features the winning photo, and finalists will be invited to watch the parade from the grandstand.
