DIAMOND DIG EVENT TO BENEFIT DRESS FOR SUCCESS
A Diamond Dig event is planned from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at MJ Christensen in Boca Park, 8980 W. Charleston Blvd., to benefit Dress for Success of Southern Nevada.
The nonprofit group promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire and career development tools to help them thrive in work and life.
At the Diamond Dig, guests will be able to purchase "digs" or scoops from a special sandbox filled with gemstones. Lucky "diggers" who find a gemstone in their scoop will win a corresponding prize, and one winner will receive the grand prize, a unique piece of diamond jewelry. Donation is $10 per dig.

Marquis Aurbach Coffing employees plan blood drive
We Want To Suck Your Blood, an annual blood drive, is planned from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 28 at 10001 Park Run Drive. It is hosted by the employees of the law firm of Marquis Aurbach Coffing and is open to the public.
All donors will receive a voucher for two tickets to the show "Defending the Caveman" at Harrah’s Las Vegas, 3475 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
Donors must be 17 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and feel well prior to giving blood. A photo identification and/or United Blood Services donor card is required.

TROOPS TO BENEFIT FROM DONATION
American Legion Auxiliary Junior Unit No. 14’s Laila Elamrani, president, and Lexi Isaac-Payne, historian, accepted the Las Vegas Municipal Court staff’s in-kind supplies and monetary donations Aug. 1.
The donation will help send care packages to deployed service members. The estimated donation totaled $700. Twenty-two boxes were sent for a total of 265 pounds of jerky, books, socks and candy, along with handmade cards made by children attending city of Las Vegas neighborhood events.

GET RED ROCK CANYON CLIMBER’S PERMIT BY END OF SEPTEMBER
The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area announces that it will issue guest climbing special recreation permits for 2013, authorizing commercial guided or educational rock climbing in Red Rock Canyon for up to 10 days. Four educational and eight commercial guest climbing permits are available.
The permits will be issued through a lottery system if more applications are received than available permits. Those interested in applying should submit a completed application by Sept. 30 to the Red Rock/Sloan Field Office: HCR 33 Box 5500, Las Vegas, NV 89161.
Notification of selected applicants will be made by Oct. 30.

SEPT. 29 GOLF EVENT TO HELP TROOPS
Tee It Up for the Troops, in partnership with Las Vegas’ only free veterans’ dental clinic, the Sgt. Clint Ferrin Dental Clinic, is planned for Sept. 29 at Angel Park Golf Club, 100 S. Rampart Blvd.
A large portion of the proceeds will provide free dentistry to low-income veterans in Las Vegas.
Golfers will tee off for prizes and raffle items from former major-league pitchers Greg Maddux and Rollie Fingers and singer Toby Keith. Other donations include NASCAR and National Hot Rod Association passes, gift cards and more.

THIRD ANNUAL ROCKIN’ WALK PLANNED FOR SEPT. 30 TO BENEFIT GOODIE TWO SHOES
The third annual Rockin’ Walk to benefit the nonprofit Goodie Two Shoes Foundation is slated for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 30 as part of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin, 1700 Village Center Circle.
The outdoor, family-friendly walking event will raise funds to provide disadvantaged children with new shoes and socks. It is sponsored by the Brenden Mann Foundation.
Participants can choose from the one-mile mixed hole, 2.5-mile back-nine or five-mile 18-hole walking options and enjoy the scenic views of TPC Summerlin, live entertainment and prizes. Each registered walker will also receive a souvenir T-shirt and a single-day admission ticket for the tournament, which is scheduled for Oct. 1-7.
Registration fees are $20 for children 3 to 17 and $35 for those 18 or older. A new pair of shoes and five to six pairs of socks can be provided to needy children for every $25 raised. Walk participants can preregister online or the morning of the walk, and space is limited to the first 1,500 walkers.

The Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open announces the fourth annual Women’s Day Kick Off Your Heels Luncheon, scheduled for Oct. 2 at TPC Summerlin, 1700 Village Circle Drive. Tickets are $125 for individuals and $1,000 for tables of 10. VIP tables are $1,500 and include weekend access for 10 to the tournament grounds.
