The Tea Party Express will hold its “Victory Watch Party” this evening at the same hotel where Democrat Harry Reid will be waiting for results in what could be one of the tightest races in the nation.
“The race in Nevada is iconic for the Tea Party movement. Harry Reid is an example of what we’re rebelling against,” Tea Party Express spokesman Levi Russell told the National Journal.
The D.C.-based publication reported that the Tea Party Express had booked a room at the Aria Hotel and Casino in the hopes of celebrating a victory for Republican candidate Sharron Angle. The group endorsed her on April 15th at the National Press Club and helped her win the GOP primary.
Kelly Steele, a spokesman for Reid’s campaign, said they were pleased the group was spending money at the CityCenter, noting that Reid helped secure funds to create jobs there.
“We’re confident that the thousands of people working there today will provide them with excellent service, even though their chosen candidate Sharron Angle wouldn’t have lifted a finger to save CityCenter, leaving all of them jobless,” Steele said.
Russell told the National Journal that they had also booked a suite at the Venetian and planned to join Angle there to celebrate.
