The College of Southern Nevada’s planetarium is planning to show "Season of Light" in a new digital format at 6 and 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 22. The show looks at the astronomical origins of many holiday traditions. "2012 Mayan Prophecies" is scheduled to show at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 22. Both shows are to be accompanied by a presentation on seasonal star gazing. Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for seniors 55 or older, children 11 or younger and CSN students. The College of Southern Nevada’s Department of Fine Arts Dance program plans to present a revival of professor Kelly Roth’s 1997 dance "Wisdom." The show is a reflection of Princess Diana’s life and a collage of the events that made headlines that year. The exhibit "Tony Hawk Rad Science" is scheduled to run through Jan. 20 at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. The exhibit allows visitors to put themselves into the role of skateboarders and scientists as they explore more than 25 interactive experiences. It is presented by the Tony Hawk Foundation in conjunction with the Las Vegas Natural History Museum. In addition to the marketplace’s more than 1,150 vendor spaces and buildings, it also offers a wide variety of entertainment, food and beverages. The Aliante Master Association plans to host its fourth annual holiday tree lighting from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 8 at Deer Springs Park, 6550 Aviary Way. The event is set to include a snow hill, a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, a chance to win free raffle prizes, hot chocolate and cookies, a performance by the Shadow Ridge Choral Group and more. Donations will be accepted for nonprofit Baby’s Bounty, which is in need of new car seats, baby packs and infant-size diapers.
