District Attorney’s office veteran Victoria Villegas last month filed for divorce against her husband David Amesbury, a key figure in the ongoing investigation of corruption inside local homeowners associations and the construction defect industry.
Private practice attorney Amesbury pleaded guilty last month to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud and has agreed to cooperate in the case being prosecuted by the Department of Justice’s Fraud Section.
Last week, Amesbury entered the news after he was found beaten inside a private community in Henderson. Authorities have said they do not believe Amesbury’s beating was related to his role in the HOA case.
Villegas filed the complaint for divorce Oct. 21 citing incompatibility and irreconcilable differences. She and Amesbury were married Dec. 23, 1991.
The couple has no children.
