William Lyon Homes designs for outdoor living, entertaining

Single-story homes in Tularosa, a southwestern valley neighborhood, range from 1,514 to 2,102 square feet with three bedrooms and two baths and are priced from $164,000.

"William Lyon Homes builds homes that are ideal for entertaining, both inside and out. We are known for designing homes with open great rooms and spacious family rooms that are ideal for indoor entertaining and for offering home sites that provide ample space for outdoor living," said Julia Giordani, Tularosa sales agent.

"At Tularosa, the space for everyday living and entertaining includes not only a home’s inside, but also its backyard where buyers may opt for a covered patio. Some of our homes are located along a walking path and greenbelt, adding to the backyard’s ambience," Giordani said. "Our location, within the Mountain’s Edge master-planned community, also lends itself to outdoor recreation with trails, parks and picnic areas all nearby."

To visit Tularosa, take the Las Vegas Beltway to Rainbow Boulevard and head south. Turn right on Blue Diamond Road and then left on Buffalo Drive. Proceed south to Erie Avenue, turn left and follow signs to the neighborhood.

Homebuyers also have the opportunity to live along a walking path at The Fields in the Aliante master-planned community in North Las Vegas, where two-story homes feature 2,210 to 2,723 square feet, four or five bedrooms, 2½ or three baths and prices from $183,000.

"Aliante did an amazing job of setting land aside for walking trails and arroyos, as well as parks throughout the community. Some of our homes, at The Fields, overlook a walking trail that meanders throughout the community and connects to one of Aliante’s many parks," sales associate Tammy Temple said.

"We offer homes with patios and even second-story walk-out decks along the walking trail, which is very nice because it not only adds to your outdoor living space, but you can view the community from a different perspective."

To visit The Fields, take the Las Vegas Beltway to Aliante Parkway and head north. Turn left on Elkhorn Road, and the neighborhood is on the left.

Also, offering walk-out decks from master suites and oversized home sites is The Commons, a northwestern valley neighborhood priced from $197,000 that features two-story residences with 2,254 to 2,727 square feet, three to five bedrooms and 2½ or three baths.

"The Commons offers amazing two-story designs and home sites that are well-suited for outdoor living with our options for covered patios and decks and our absolutely wonderful homes sites with 45- to 60-foot-deep backyards on average," sales agent Maria Bengtson said.

"There’s plenty of room, both inside and outside, for family gathering and entertaining. There’s plenty of room if you want a pool or a trampoline, or a covered patio for barbecuing," Bengston said, adding that home sites that accommodate RVs are available in Phase Four.

To visit The Commons, take the Las Vegas Beltway to Decatur Boulevard, head north toward Grand Teton Drive and follow the signs.

Located northwest of The Commons is The Crossings, where single-story residences offer space for backyard living, as well as courtyard entertaining. Priced from $268,000, the gated neighborhood features three designs measuring from 2,652 to 3,068 square feet with three or four bedrooms, 2½ to 3½ baths and either a courtyard entry or interior courtyard.

"The courtyards are beautiful in design and offer a private outdoor space that can be used year-round as an extra entertaining area, as a dining area or as a place to relax. Everybody just loves this design aspect of The Crossings," sales agent Charlotte Bell said.

To visit The Crossings, take the Las Vegas Beltway to Jones Boulevard and head north. Travel past Horse Drive and follow the signs.

Other William Lyon Homes neighborhoods include The Cottages at Centennial Ranch, a gated North Las Vegas neighborhood that features homes ranging from 1,335 to 1,776 square feet as well as a community park; West Park Courtyards and West Park Villas in Summerlin and Series 1 at Mountain Falls in Pahrump.

Sales offices are open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily except Monday, when they open at noon.

Movie posters might soon be based on your clicks

You may have thought you left Blockbuster behind, but the basic way we browse movies hasn’t changed all that much. We peruse poster after poster, kind of like walking the aisles of a ‘90s-era video store. That one poster image, meant to appeal to as many people as possible, is often all we see before […]
